Biography
Hailing from the last of a dying breed, Rock Dolo (E. Caldwell Jr.) emerges with resilience. Coming from a military background, improvising and adapting to overcome were ways of life. Born in 1982, Rock Dolo grew up with the tunes of Michael Jackson, Prince, Parliament, Rick James and Cameo, to name a few, laying the soundtrack to his upbringing. Inspired by the likes of Run DMC, LL Cool J and Ice Cube, Dolo began writing rhymes by the age of 8. Intrigued by Jermaine Dupri writing songs for Kriss Kross, he started to pen full songs and develop a following for his witty word play in each elementary school he attended. Years passed, as his family moved from state to state every three years, until landing in Virginia in 1993. In middle school, Rock Dolo teamed up with neighborhood friends to form TZ. The group would sell 60-minute mix tapes during school. These tapes led to performances throughout the city of Alexandria in 1998. The next year, his family moved to Augusta, GA. Rock teamed with D-Malik, Lex Denero, En-Dogg and Nic Flo to form EMPACT STRONG. EMPACT reigned the music scene in Augusta. Their hit single Drag created a major buzz for the group, giving them the platform to tour and performed at festivals, summer jams and power fests. EMPACT STRONG released their first official CD, self titled, in the spring of 2005. Low and behold, the harsh realities of what the music industry, fame and fortune can bring were adamant. More money, more problems. Needless to say, Rock returned to Virginia, focusing more on the production aspects of the game. The sour taste of relying on others for beats encouraged Rock to be self-dependent. His younger brother, St. Even, convinced him to composing beats using various computer-based programs. Through Imperial Sounds, Dolo released a slew of projects over the Internet, Profile 07 in 2007, Highway Rebel in 2009 and Heavens to Murgatroyd in 2010.Currently, Rock Dolo is slated to release his first official EP Trap Enough slated for release in late October 2011.To get in touch with Rock Dolo and his past and future endeavors, check out his official website, www.rockdolo.com.
